Top of the Rock Chapel, Branson MO {Rebecca + Kaleb}

November 14, 2018

As cliche as this may sound,  I believe that the story of Rebecca and Kaleb is one that tells of a modern fairytale. Being in the air force, left little time to find true love, but when they did, their eyes were fixed on their future, and the welcome addition of Rebeccas daughter, eventually made them a family. One look at Rebecca and you’d agree, she’s not only strong, but she is kind, and I will say has a beautiful feminine side to her as well! There’s something angelic about her, very demure and lovely that you can’t help but fall in love with. With that said, Kaleb is debonair, GQ in appearance and is also strong yet both are so romantic too! Let’s just take how they hired their DJ for their wedding! When shopping at the Branson Landing, they heard this guy playing and singing with his guitar for Tips. Kaleb asked him to play a certain song, and when he did, they asked him to be their wedding DJ, even though he was planning on moving down south! So many stories that shed even more light on their service and kindness from their wedding guests during toasts too! So thankful to capture so many moments for this pair and their happy-ever-after. It’s always a treat to photograph weddings at Big Cedar Lodge!

Thank you to the amazing vendors who made this wedding possible:

Integrity Hills, Big Cedar Wedding: Rebecca + Max

September 14, 2016

The morning sun was still rising over the Ozark Mountain hills while Max and his groomsmen gathered out at Big Cedar’s shooting range, and the girls sipped their coffee’s while attending a quiet brunch. This California couple flew in to Branson, MO to wed, she said yes in a magnificent chapel overlooking Table Rock Lake. Rebecca had everything carefully arranged, from her details, to their wedding vows, the reception was filled with special details as well, they choreographed a special song for their 1st dance, and she suprised Max with an accordian player too! The evening came to an end when they ran through a sparkler filled walkway and dashed away…The couple spent their honeymoon in Italy! Rebecca and Max, I hope you enjoyed your Italian honeymoon, and all the adventures life awaits you! Thank you for allowing me to capture your love, and to document this time in your life! WEDDINGS AT THE HOMESTEAD | BRANSON, MO | ANGEL + JEREMY

July 11, 2016

ANGEL + JEREMY WEDDING QUESTIONNAIRE

*  How did he pop the question?

We took a hike together on the trail where we had our first kiss. We were exploring some creeks and waterfalls off trail and he just turned and asked me to marry him!

  • What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding?

The ceremony!! It was hilarious and so us!!!! We are jokers and didn’t want a stuffy or overly emotional/religious ceremony. It was perfect!!

The games were a highlight too. It was so cool to see people having fun instead of standing around staring at us!

  • How long have you been together?

One year, but we have been friends for many more!

  • How would you describe your overall wedding experience?

Great! Fun, chill, and carefree!

  • What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?

Worry about other people less and do more of what you really want. If I had gone with my gut on just a couple more things it would have been perfect!

  • What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple?

Hire Sheri!!!! The photos are the one and only thing tangible you get to keep from all the months and stress of planning. It brought me so much peace to know that no matter what happened a year from now I will have something beautiful on the wall reminding me what it was all about!

  • Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? Custom designed by Simple threads.
  • How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?

Beyond amazing!! I have worked with a lot of photographers but none as professional and positive as Sheri!! She gives posing ideas and really cares about how they look! When you look through the pics you will see all the time she took adjusting the settings, lighting, position, etc. And she handles all the moms and grandmas with ease!!! That is not easy!! Anyone can point and click, what she delivers is true art! 🙂

*Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not!

We did a first look and it was a great decision. The wedding was chaos!!!!!! After those moments I didn’t really even get to connect with him again until we got home. It gave us just a little bit of time to remember what it was all about before it all started!

*Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?

I do wish we would have done our formal shots before the wedding. After they were just ready to party and I get that. I just didn’t think about it. But it would have been really nice to have a first look and then all the formals!! My cousin did that at her wedding and it really cut down on the time away from the party. Otherwise the wedding party was great and I had no issues.  Sheri- “This was the plan, but we simply ran out of time at this wedding to accomplish that! I LOVE getting all the formals done before the wedding, then doing family shots after the ceremony, and then Sunset shots with my couples later on into the reception”

  • We love to hear about vendors you love. List any vendors here and feel free to share your experience. Be sure to include the name of the vendor, their profession, city/state, site or Facebook page and how your experience was!

*I give mad props to Countrymart for the florals!!!! I was blown away at how great they looked for what little I paid. ALL the flowers were under $200 total, that is more than most brides spend on just their one bouquet. Check your local grocer ladies!!! Branson, MO

*The venue, Weddings at the Homestead, were also incredible!!! They were so generous with their time and resources and property. Every question I asked was answered with a yes! It made things so much easier than they could have been. Branson, Mo

*The hotdog vendor was fantastic as well!! Duncan Dogs did a great job and it was so fun and unique. I have been to dozens of weddings and the food is always luke warm. Our food was hot and fun!! The stand gave our guests something to do and their food was personal and kid friendly! Sheri- “They even made me a veggie dog!”

* What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?

My makeup. I do wish I would have done my makeup myself, but my sister is in school for makeup and I wanted to support her. I was worried about it ahead of time so I should have gone with my gut. It was pretty much a flop but luckily our photographer was amazing so I still look great!!

* What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for planning their wedding?

DO WHAT YOU WANT!!! Feelings are going to be hurt no matter what, might as well do things the way you want them!!

*Have you had any prior sessions? If so, what type, and where?

Engagement and boudoir!!! I highly recommend both!! It gave me a chance to get to know Sheri ahead of time. I became familiar with her style and work ethic. It was priceless!!!!

*What kind of food was served at your reception?

We had a Hot dog stand, chips, s’mores, and donuts

What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? Father-daughter dance? Mother-son dance?

We danced to a random song that played when we were ready to dance. I don’t even know the name of it. We didn’t have any of the other dances. We wanted an organic party. We didn’t want to stop the fun for specific things. If it felt right it happened.

Did you write your own Vows, if so, share them with us!

Yes!!!

Angel to Jeremy:

I promise to grow old with you. You’ll grow old first of course, but I’ll be by your side helping you tape your mangled fingers for jui jitzu and repeating what other people say when you can’t hear them.

I promise to keep life an adventure! Choosing to actively participate in our relationship and our family above all else.

I promise to always be faithful to you. Physically, emotionally, and mentally, which means that I promise to always respect you and what we have enough to protect it with every part of me.

Jeremy to Angel:

I promise to find a way to show my love for you everyday!

I promise to grow old with you. Through sickness, mostly soreness, and health. I will always be by your side.

I promise to always make life with you an adventure. Through travel, hikes, or just good times with friends and family we will conquer everything together with love.

I promise to always be faithful, the kind of faithfulness that will never be questioned, regardless of what corner of the world I am in and how far apart we may be.

*Basically we viewed it like a contract. What are the deal breakers? It doesn’t sound very romantic but if we are going to “vow” something we should agree with it. So we decided what was important enough to promise each other and then we put our own spin on it.

What were the colors/theme of your wedding? Any special advice for Décor, and party favors?

Navy, wild flowers, coutry, chill.

We didn’t do party favors and I still think that was a good decision. There were plenty of toys and dress-up things that the kids took home, but I feel like party favors for adults are a waste of money. I have taken so many cutesy things home from weddings but then what do you do with them…trash! Spend the money somewhere else, that’s my say!

Big Cedar Lodge Wedding | Claudine + Kerian

May 5, 2016

From the moment they met, they felt a chemistry that was so strong. Their love for each other bubbled over with smiles, laughter, and happy tears throughout our time together! I’ve always told my brides that the best accessory they can wear is a smile, and to let everything else melt away, and Claudine certainly did that! The thundershowers held off, and we enjoyed a sunlit day together, strolling through my favorite spots at Big Cedar, and headed up to the Falls for a short and sweet ceremony.  I stayed a little longer than planned to capture their first sunset, and the ozark mountains did not dissapoint. We stood their in awe as the orange and blue tones of the sky grew more & more saturated with color. They told me as I drove them back to their cabin that night, that everything was absolutly perfect for their wedding, and i was a big part in making their day run effortlessly! Thankful for my career as a wedding photographer!

March 11, 2016

1. Where did you meet? We met while performing together in a show in Branson, MO.

2.  How did Dean propose? We went out for our anniversary dinner to our favorite place, Level II Steakhouse. When it came time to exchange gifts, he sat beside me as we flipped through the photo book he had designed for me. He put so much effort and thought into this book that I was in tears a few pages in. As I turned to the last page and read “will you marry me?” he got down on one knee, popped the question and I said YES! It all happened so fast which is why we are so thankful to have had a secret photographer there capture the moment. That was my mom’s idea as she helped Dean hide the whole thing from me! So sneaky 🙂 -Sheri Holloway Photography

3. What was one of your favorite memories? One of my favorite moments was during our vows when Dean made me laugh and no one else had a clue! I also loved our first dance because it felt like we were the only ones in the whole world. I think that’s the moment everything sunk in for me so there were a lot of happy tears! Another highlight was the animal interaction. A couple of horses came up to us during our photos and a wolf (temporarily) stole our glass from the ceremony! A favorite of our guests was the butterfly release and the dedication to our loved ones that were looking down on us from Heaven. Most people told us that it was the most unique wedding that they had ever been to and I think that’s because we stuck with what is true for us rather than what’s traditional or typical. We both embrace our heritage, our family, our friends and nature. Our goal was for it to be a comfortable gathering to celebrate love and I think we did just that.

4. How long have you been together? We have been together for almost five years! May 27th will be our one year wedding anniversary.

5. What would you change about your wedding day if any? Our wedding day was absolutely perfect except for the fact that I forgot my dress and had to run back to the house to get it! Other than that, total perfection! There isn’t a thing I would change about it. It helps when you have a great coordinator. I had total faith is Sarah so knew that if something went wrong, she would handle it. I also knew that even if something did go wrong, it would be okay because in the end, all I wanted was to marry my best friend. Everything else was just icing on the cake!

6. What advice can you give to my future brides? I said from the very beginning that I wanted a marriage more beautiful than my wedding. I think it’s all in the mindset, really. If you stress so much about the day and it being “perfect” you can lose sight of what’s really important. Because of that mentality, we had fun planning our wedding and it remained a very stress-free experience. On the practical side, it’s important to set a budget for yourself and stick to it. We had a long engagement (a year and a half) so it made things easier on us financially, giving us more time to plan and budget. Also, never cut corners on photos and video! That is how you will capture your special moment in time. We have watched our wedding video a couple of times already and I look through our photos all the time!

7. Photo related advice? Have a friend that is willing to do your photos for free with his iPhone so you can spend thousands on a dress or a cake? Don’t do it! Seriously, hire a professional photographer and videographer and I promise you won’t regret it! Prior to your day, sit down with them and discuss the style you’re looking for and your “must-have” shots. Bringing reference photos is a tremendous help too! (Thanks Pinterest!)

8. Where did you get that dress?! I went the unconventional route when it came to my dress and ordered it online. I tried on dresses in a boutique so that I could have the experience but I had a pretty distinct vision in mind from the get go. I wanted something to fit our rustic, bohemian nuptials and since my husband always likes my dresses with a low back, I thought that would be the perfect style. I wanted comfortable, I wanted lace and I didn’t want to spend a fortune. I made it difficult on myself! I found a designer out of Australia named Amy Taylor. I loved every single one of her designs, so I contacted the shop through email and together, we came up with the perfect dress. When it arrived, I had a seamstress friend of mine make the necessary alterations, like adding a sash. I ordered a customized flower crown from an artisan in Canada via Etsy and purchased my shoes (MK sandals). I wore the bracelet my my wore when she married my stepdad, my grandmother’s ring, turquoise earrings, my engagement ring, a necklace gifted to me by my husband and a statement ring.

9. How was it working with me? Sheri is THE BEST! I always get so nervous in front of the camera and I was actually quite nervous on our wedding day, not because of the marriage but because of all the people with their eyes on us! She really listened to our vision and captured the entire day perfectly. Our photos are truly stunning, if I do say so myself 😉 Sheri did our proposal, engagement, wedding and she will do whatever comes next in our life together! Perhaps a baby Z? ❤️

10. First LOOK? Dean & I chose to not see each other before the wedding. We met with our eyes closed and held hands back to back as we said a prayer. I gave him a note to read before the ceremony too! When I took my first steps down the aisle, that was our first look and it was magical.

11. How did you get your inspiration?! Do your research, come up with a vision and save reference pictures. Your photographer may be brilliant but I assure you, he/she is not a mind reader. Communicate what you want and you won’t look back and wish you had done things differently.

12. Bridal Party Advice? Honestly, my bridal party was amazing and did whatever Sheri asked. The groomsmen were a different story! Ha Ha My husband and Sheri magically got them in order so I can’t take any credit for that!

13. Where did you get that dress? I brought a secondary dress to wear after all of the official dances were complete. I also packed my makeup, setting spray, curling iron, bobby pins, hairspray, deodorant, perfume, toothbrush, toothpaste, mints, water and a snack. My girls brought the other essentials like a first aid kit and a sewing kit. Don’t forget any checks you may need to bring as well as your marriage certificate!

14. Inspiration ideas? Pinterest was awesome for ideas! Etsy is my favorite place to shop on the planet! I got several items from there (gifts for our parents & groomsmen, my customized handkerchief, guest book, earrings, flower crown, etc.) Jewelry for my bridal party was from Charming Charlie. The embroidered robes for my girls were from theweddingprepgals.com and the gifts for my bridesMAN were from Etsy. My dress was from Amy Taylor Collection. Dean’s suit came from River Island. My setting spray (the best) is from modelinabottle.com and I wore 3D+ Mascara rather than false lashes since I’m a cry baby and this mascara makes it look like I’m wearing falsies! It’s from TheLashDoll.com My shoes were MK and my husband’s monk strap shoes were from Aldo (very sharp!). I wore extensions that were custom cut & colored. Extensions were from luxuryforprincess.com and A Wild Hair Salon in Branson made them match perfectly.

15. What happens if it rains? Initially I was afraid that the weather would be terrible. I prayed about this and ultimately came to the conclusion that come rain or shine, I would be marrying my soulmate and it would be perfect simply because of that. Well, we had rain for an entire week and on the day of our wedding, it was a beautifully sunshiny day! I was also afraid I would trip and fall down on my way down the aisle and I think my dad was fearful of that too! Haha We made it without a hitch!

16. Advise for my SHP Brides? My advice is to just enjoy it! Enjoy every single moment from start to finish and remember that in the end, you marry your love and start a brand new chapter as husband and wife! Whether you get married in a back yard or a church cathedral, it will be beautiful and perfect because you have each other.

17. How did you choose your photographer? We knew from the beginning who we wanted to take our photos!

18. Who made all of that delicious food?  We did southern fare because that’s what I grew up on and it’s now my husbands favorite too. Happy Chef made a delicious meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad, sweet tea, strawberry lemonade & watermelon. Kim Matrenga made our gorgeous cake and cupcakes and they were phenomenal.

19. First Dance Song? Our first dance was to “Let it Be Me” by the Everly Brothers. My dad and I danced to “Daddy Dance with Me.” I sent my dad about 50 songs to choose from and we both ended the same one. Dean and his mom started out a slow dance to “Tammy” (a song she sang to him as a child) and then busted out in a fun hip-hop number. It was hilarious and yes, it’s on YouTube! Hahaha

20. Did you recite your own vows? After going over the beautiful ceremony that our officiant (Donna) prepared, we decided to not recite our own vows. She said it all! We did a butterfly release for my Native American roots and we did the traditional breaking of the glass in honor of Dean’s Jewish heritage.

21. Theme and colors of your wedding? We did shades of peach & blush with hints of turquoise. Everything was very soft and romantic with flowing chiffon and burlap accents. We used some of our own decor and picture frames throughout the venue as well as fresh flowers.

Eureka Springs Arkansas | Elopement Wedding | Kenneth + Anya

March 4, 2016

The sweetest Bride elopes with her charming groom….. What a fun filled day traveling around looking for beautiful spots to document their love. Their nuptuals were short & sweet under a large oak tree right outside of the courthouse. They wanted a simple ceremony, & lots of photographs. Anya has modeled for me, and when she knew she was getting married, she quickly called me she said…they had to have me there with them that day, just the 3 of us! By the time we arrived in Eureka Springs that evening, it was pitch black. We started right off by finding street lights, and utilizing my skills with off camera lighting to make some amazing imagery for these two!!! Cheers to a happy life together! Beyond blessed to of been able to share the day with you!

Romantic Glam Styled Shoot

February 3, 2016

Branson Hills Golf Club is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains, in Branson, MO. The building has tall ceilings, and a huge wall of windows facing a large deck, and the greens of the golf course. This shoot was organized on a quintessential winter day. The air was perfectly crisp, yet quite warm for January, and perfect to get 2 locations into this shoot! After finishing up at the Country Club, we whisked them away while the sun was just starting to set over the mountains. Organizing the shoot was really enjoyable, with many talented vendors so excited to join.

The models dress was selected by Sarah, and I as soon as we saw it at “Touch of Class”, we knew it was the one! It was perfect for this soft/romantic shoot, & added a ethereal feel. It almost appears as if she is in a dream. We hope this styled shoot inspires many of you to plan a wedding in not only this gorgeous venue, but in this sweet little town we call home, Branson…

Thank you to these talented wedding vendors, and also to our real life, husband and wife models, Mishay & Xase Westfall, for volunteering for us! Enjoyed having their sweet little guy, Cruz hanging out with us during the shoot too!

  • How did you two meet? Adam and I met unexpectedly when I went out one night in Oklahoma City. I had lived a life to set myself up to meet a boy in a church small group—and as the Lord would have it, I met my husband on the one random night I decided to go to a country concert at a local bar in town. Super embarrassing☺. We danced to one song and that was it. He got my number and I left. We went on our first date 2 weeks later and that was that!
  • How did he pop the question? With my hometown being in Illinois, Adam had a real challenge of asking my parents for my hand in marriage—they were 10 hours away. We were traveling to Virginia for my brother’s graduation and Adam had convinced me he’d be asking my parents that weekend. I completely believed him. I had gone to school out in Virginia as well and we were walking Adam around my alma mater. Him and I went up to a mountain I had hiked many times, literally mid conversation while some high school girls were taking our picture he got down on one knee and asked. I was absolutely shell shocked. I then found out he had flown to my hometown 4 weeks prior without me knowing about it! So crazy and fun!

Virginia8

  • What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding? Big Cedar provided the most fairytale setting I could have ever dreamed up. I don’t even have one specific moment because there was a moment from each part of the day!
  • How long have you been together? We got engaged 2 years from the date we met and were married 4 ½ months later!
  • What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding? The best advice I received played a huge role in the enjoyment of our wedding. A dear friend of mine said, “Go into your wedding with very little expectations so everything you experience is just the way it should be! And not what you thought it should or should not have been.” Every detail of our wedding was perfect in my eyes because I wasn’t comparing it to what I thought it should have been. Comparison kills contentment. My prayer is that I carry the same principle into a lifelong marriage with Adam.
  • What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple? Trust your photographer.
  • How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day? You were extremely engaged in trying to figure out what type of photos I would want and I really appreciate that. Some photographers seem to get wrapped up in the direction they want their business to go that they lose out on the personalities of the couple they are working with.
  • Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not! We did a first look at Big Cedar and are so glad we did! Doing a first look allowed us to capture great photos with each other and with our bridal party before the ceremony. We had plenty of time allotted for pictures after the ceremony—it’s just the last thing you want to be doing knowing you can go and talk with all of your friends!2015-11-17_0007.jpg2015-11-17_0012.jpg

Branson Missouri Wedding Vendors | APPLE ORCHARD STYLED WEDDING SHOOT

November 12, 2015

Styled Wedding Photo Shoot | Apple Orchard/Fall Colors…

Imagine… your wedding in an enchanted, colorful wonderland..yes, i’m talking about taking your wedding outdoors, and into the woods! It’s hard to imagine breaking away from the popular wedding shades (hello peach, coral, blush, and lavender), but think about the colorful options of a fall wedding! When Allie Rodiger, of Allie Rose Events & myself, Sheri Holloway, a Wedding/Portrait Photographer, got together to chat about collaborating together, magic started happening. Ideas bounced around at our meeting, and soon we were bringing together some of the most talented wedding vendors in the 417 area to create our vision! This shoot, as you can see, is an autumnal wedding scene featuring richer tones of reds, greens, and burnt orange. The palette was seen from start to finish, gracing the tables capes, and of course the flowers. The Vintage Rental Company used seasonal foliage + striking blooms to make up the gorgeous bouquet + arrangements you’re about to see. As lovers of fashion, we enlisted the help of Lana Johnson, & Halley Hutchins, from Touch of Class Formals, to help us in finding just the right wedding dress, and tux for the shoot….(I even got to try on that dress!!! 🙂 The beautiful scenery was just what we envisioned and more! Lisa Button, owner of Sycamore Creek Family Ranch, was kind enough to show us around her booming 300+ acreage wedding venue, to find just the perfect spot by the waters edge. A big shout out also to Brooke Messer, from Bare Minerals, for not only her makeup artistry, but her help with styling the bride and groom, and for her hair styling on Samantha, our model brides hair, when the hair stylist we enlisted was unable to help us! Wow! What a joy it was working with James Freeman, and Samantha Cox…this was their first time meeting! They took my direction extremely well, not missing a beat, and we had a great time creating this dreamy, romantic, fall wedding inspiration together! Feel the Love….

Missouri, Arkansas, & Destination Wedding Photographer

Meet Sheri

Hey there,...I'm Sheri Holloway, a Fine Art Wedding Photographer based out of Branson, MO. I'm a seasoned photographer, 12 years and counting, having also photographed all over the Midwest. My Philosophy is simple, the images i capture for you should spark memories of the day...from the aroma of your flowers, to how your dad teared up when he first saw you in your gown, to the way your groom looked at you when you walked down the aisle! I don't want your images to look like everyone else's because your wedding day is unique, this is your story. Let me capture all the details, emotion, and love! I see beauty in every person i meet, and enjoy finding out and capturing what makes them truly unique and special! It would be my Honor to tell your love story...
